Thursday
A windy day across the UK and Ireland on Thursday, with gusts in excess of 40-50mph over exposed coasts and hills. Strongest winds affect Irish Sea coasts, and the north-east coasts of Scotland and England. The remains of the patchy overnight rain affects the far south-east first thing in the morning but clearing away. Good spells of sunshine for many places throughout the day, although the north-westerly flow will bring showers into western Scotland, north-west England and north Wales. A few showers reaching the western Midlands also. Scattered showers possible in eastern England too. Highs 7 to 9C, feeling colder in the wind.

Thursday night
Dry for most places overnight with winds easing. A few residual showers in East Anglia for a time. Clear spells developing widely as high pressure builds in from the west. A touch of frost possible in many parts of the UK. Some mist and fog patches developing for Wales and central parts of England. Lows 1 to 4C.

Friday
A dry day for the majority of the UK and Ireland as high pressure builds from the south-west. Increasing cloud in the north-west of Scotland, with some drizzly rain possible here. Broken cloud for England, Wales and Ireland, with best sunshine in the east. Mostly light winds, but breezier in northern Scotland. Highs 8 to 11C

Saturday
A mostly dry day again for the UK and Ireland under the influence of high pressure. Generally quite cloudy with some stubborn fog patches in the morning. Outbreaks of rain across western and northern Scotland become more persistent and heavy by the afternoon. Some rain spreading into north-western Ireland by the evening. Best of any brightness in eastern counties of the UK, especially eastern Scotland. Light winds overall, breezier in Scotland. Highs 9 to 12C.
