Thursday
A cold and windy day to come. A lot of cloud to start the day with patchy light rain perhaps mixed with some sleet and some snow over the Chiltern and South Downs. In the south east this may be a bit more persistent for a time. It tends to dry up later this morning with some sunshine developing then through the rest of the day with a few showers around North Sea coasts. Sunnier to the north with a few wintry showers for northern Scotland. Expect highs of 4 to 7 Celsius.
Thursday Night
It remains windy this evening and tonight with more cloud across East Anglia and the south east with some coastal showers. Elsewhere the cloud will be more broken with Northern Ireland and Scotland most at risk of a frost. Minimum temperatures of 3 to -2C.
Friday
Friday we keep a brisk north east wind across the country, making it feel quite cold. For most parts of the country it should be mainly dry and bright with sunny spells but occasional showers are forecast near North Sea coasts and across East Anglia and the south east. A few will also be running down through the Irish Sea clipping western Wales. Overnight stays quite windy with further showers around eastern coasts of England with the bulk of the country dry with clear spells. A frost is likely overnight across Scotland and northern England with more cloud and windy likely to keep temperatures up in the south. Maximum temperatures of 5 to 7 Celsius.
Saturday
Little change in the weather pattern today. The winds remain brisk from the north east bringing in occasionally more cloud and a few showers to eastern coasts of England. Most central and western areas will stay fine and dry with the best of the sunshine. Still feeling cold especially in the wind. Northern Ireland, Scotland, western Wales and north west England will be prone to a frost tonight where skies will be clear. Scattered showers will persist around North Sea coasts. Maximum temperatures of 5 to 7 Celsius.
