Tuesday
Outbreaks of rain in East Anglia and south-east England in the morning remain persistent for a time before clearing eastwards. Central and western regions start the day chilly but dry with some sunshine. Some early fog may be slow to clear. Sunny spells extend to eastern parts by the middle of the day, whilst clouds thicken in the west. Rain spreads into Ireland during the morning, with light rain and drizzle moving into western regions during the afternoon. Rain turns heavier and more persistent from the west throughout the evening, possibly turning to snow on its leading edge over Highland Scotland, the Southern Uplands and North Pennines for a time. Highs 4 to 7C.

Tuesday night
Outbreaks of rain continue to spread eastwards overnight, with many parts of Britain and Ireland seeing persistent light rain and drizzle and becoming windy. Some heavier falls in the west, across Wales and north-west England. Snow across Highland Scotland, but typically rain at low levels. Drier in north-east Scotland. Lows 2 to 4C in northern Britain, milder in the south at 5 or 6C, but rising throughout the night from the south-west.

Wednesday
Outbreaks of rain affect eastern England on Wednesday morning, with most of England and Wales starting cloudy and dull with some drizzly rain. Persistent rain in Scotland and Northern Ireland in the morning, heavy in central and western Scotland. Scotland continues to see rain throughout the day, easing by evening. A cold front brings a spell of heavy rain to western England and Wales by early afternoon, moving slowly into the western Midlands by evening. A few brighter spells across central and eastern England are possible in the afternoon, but cloudy skies are expected to be widespread. Sunny spells move into Ireland by afternoon with a few showers in the west. Highs 6 to 9C in the north, 10 to 11C in southern England.

Thursday
Low pressure is centred west of Ireland on Thursday, with a spell of rain in the south-east in the morning as a cold front clears. Persistent bursts of rain in the west and south-west of the UK and Ireland throughout the day, with showers moving along the south coast. Fewer showers in western Scotland and north-west England. Brighter and sunny spells developing in central and eastern England and eastern Scotland into the afternoon. A moderate breeze, although some squally gusts in showers in the west. Highs 4 to 6C in the north, 8 to 10C in the south.
