A wet start to the morning across the east of Scotland and England. rain will be continuing to affect these areas through much of the morning, probably clearing eastern coasts shortly after lunchtime. The west if going to be drier but with a fair amount of cloud through this morning. Some heavy showers affecting western coasts and hills. These merging to longer spells of rain for western Scotland, reaching northwest England and north Wales by late afternoon and evening. Highs at 4 to 8C.
Wednesday night
The showers in western areas fading through this evening. Most places then becoming dry overnight with clearing skies. Temperatures will be low enough for some ice to form on roads and pavements, ahead of increasing cloud bringing more rain through Ireland in the early hours. The rain reaching western Scotland and western Wales as well as northwest England by morning, turning to snow on the hills. Lows of 0 to 4C.
Thursday
A weak front moves east through Thursday. It takes with it some rain, this turning to sleet and snow over high ground, and perhaps with a few flakes of wet snow at lower levels too as it clears eastwards. Following will be colder, brighter weather and a few showers. Most of the showers for western areas. Highs at 3 to 6C.
Friday
A cold day on Friday. Rain will be affecting eastern coasts of England and Scotland, this mainly light. A further area of rain crosses Ireland leading to a wet day here. The rain also moves into southwest England, west Wales and western Scotland, falling as snow on the hills of Scotland. Elsewhere rather cloudy and cold throughout the day. Highs of 2 to 5C.
