Rain easing Chilly east wind seiten=4 abk=focus

Tuesday
Low pressure is centred over the UK during Tuesday, with outbreaks of rain circling the country. Many places likely to see some rain during the day, with northern England, Wales and the Midlands prone to some persistent rain. The south coast also likely to see showery bursts moving west to east. Eastern Scotland will also see frequent rain and Highland snow, although western Scotland should be favoured for a drier day. Showers affect many coastal regions of Ireland, with drier spells inland. Highs 3 to 5C in the north, milder at 7 or 8C in southern England.

Tuesday night
Rain affects many eastern regions during the night, with some snow over the eastern Highlands of Scotland. Pulses of rain and showers also affect Irish Sea coasts. Drier spells with some clear breaks in western England and Scotland, and eastern parts of Wales, where temperatures may fall to freezing with the risk of ice. Lows typically 0 to 3C.

Wednesday
Wednesday is expected to start with rain affecting eastern Scotland and northern England with a chilly feeling easterly wind. Some snow to higher ground. This rain becomes increasingly patchy during the morning, with northern Britain becoming largely dry by afternoon. Patchy light rain continues for the eastern half of England, and also southern coasts, whilst drier and brighter weather affects western Wales. A few showers for Irish coasts, but Ireland is mostly dry. Feeling cold in the east at just 3 to 5C, reaching 7 to maybe 8C in the far west.

Thursday
For most of the UK, Thursday is likely to be a dry day but feeling chilly after a cold and frosty start. Some scattered wintry flurries may affect the east, but these should be very light. Sunny spells and broken cloud for most. Rain pushes into Ireland from the west, and makes further progress overnight, with the risk of turning to snow in Scotland. Highs 2 to 6C.
