Thursday
Cloudy through Thursday with outbreaks of rain across much of central, southern and eastern England. It will be cold through the Midlands with the risk of some wet snow on hills here. Slightly milder for more eastern and southern areas. Drier in southwest England and much of western Wales with a few brighter spells coming through here. Mostly dry in northern England and Scotland with some further spells of sunshine in the west, although the risk of a few snow showers in eastern areas. Cloud and rain spreading into Ireland in the afternoon. Highs at a cold 2 to 3C over much of Scotland, northern England and the Midlands, 6 to 7C in the east and south.

Thursday night
A chilly and rather cloudy night to come across most of the UK and Ireland. There will be some spots of light rain around across northern England and parts of Scotland, as well as a few flakes of snow on the hills. For many it is dry, with temperatures around 1 to -1C for most. Thicker cloud and rain arriving into western Scotland later.

Friday
A change underway on Friday as a deep area of low pressure becomes centred to the northwest of Ireland. A dry start for much of England and Wales, but winds quickly increasing through the morning as heavy rain and gales arriving. Gusts to 60mph on western coasts and hills, as well as through Ireland. Cloud and some rain for Scotland, with snow on the hills. This turning more persistent in the afternoon. The gales and rain spread east through all parts of the Uk during the afternoon, becoming heavy. Brighter, showery weather reaches Ireland in the afternoon. A cold day for many, but the milder air arriving through the day with highs at 3 to 8C.

Saturday
The area of low pressure is expected to be to the west of Scotland on Saturday. It should be a fair and bright start in the west, but showers in the west will be pushing east, merging to longer spells of rain at times, especially through Ireland, Scotland and northwest England. Snow is likely over the hills of northern England, Scotland and Northern Ireland. Severe gales in Scotland, Ireland and Wales will be spreading east through England in the afternoon. Highs at 4 to 8C.
