Heavy rain in west Remaining warm for most seiten=4 abk=focus
Wednesday
Cloudy skies for many parts of Britain and Ireland, with the best of any sun in south-east England, and the far north-west of Scotland. Low cloud likely to cover the hills in northern England, with dull misty conditions on the east coast. Persistent falls of rain across Ireland. Showery bursts also affecting western regions of England and Wales, perhaps areas of rain pushing north through the Midlands. The odd pulse of rain in eastern England in the morning, but typically eastern counties will be dry. Patchy rain pushes north into southern Scotland from late morning on, but northern Scotland may well stay dry. Light winds in the east, a fresher breeze in the north and west. Feeling quite humid, with temperatures 15 to 20C, warmest where sun breaks through in the south-east.
Wednesday night
Patchy rain affects northern England and southern Scotland on Wednesday evening, slowly moving north into the Highlands. Pulses of heavy rain are likely to spread north across south-west England and Wales, but the Midlands and eastern England should stay dry overnight, but with plenty of cloud. Later in the night, a few heavy bursts may move into southern counties of England from the English Channel. A mild night with lows 7 to 10C in England and Wales, a little cooler in the north.
Thursday
A slow moving cold front threatens heavy rain for western regions. This could give several hours of rain across Wales, the western Midlands, north-west England and south-west Scotland, perhaps also the east of Northern Ireland. This band of rain edges slowly north and east, although eastern Scotland and north-east England may well remain dry. Eastern coasts likely to be shrouded by low cloud and mist and staying cool. Early rain clears from south-west England and Wales, with sunny spells breaking through here, low risk of a heavy shower later. For central and eastern England, after a dry morning rain may encroach further east across the Midlands in the afternoon, with a few locally heavy bursts popping up in the east, but much more hit and miss. Light winds for all. Temperatures 12 to 15C in the north and west, but reaching 16 to 19C in central and eastern England.
Friday
Some thundery bursts of rain may become slow moving across eastern Britain on Friday. Brighter skies should spread across central and western areas, although a locally heavy shower cannot be ruled out. A south-westerly breeze strengthens in Ireland, bringing thickening cloud and patchy rain to the far west by evening. Temperatures 11 to 14C in the north, but warm in the south in any sunshine, highs 16 to 18C.
