Slow moving showers Improving in the west seiten=4 abk=focus
Monday
Low pressure centred to the north of the British Isles on Monday brings another day of showers across the UK and Ireland. A bright start for central and eastern regions of the UK, but showers are possible from early on for western Scotland and Ireland, plus the south-west of England and Wales. By afternoon, showers may break out more extensively for central parts of England in particular. With light winds, showers will be slow moving where they form, and give a sustained spell of rain locally. Highs 15 or 16C in the north-west, to 22 or 23C in the south-east.
Monday night
Showers are expected to rumble on for many central areas well into Monday evening, slowly easing away by nightfall. Most places become dry overnight, although with a lot of cloud around for central and eastern England. Winds generally light. Overnight lows around 9 to 12C for most, highest values where cloud lingers. Clearing skies toward the north-west may see lows of 4 to 7C in rural parts of northern England and Scotland.
Tuesday
Light winds north-westerly winds on Tuesday. Apart from the odd scattered shower, most places start dry, but again showers threaten to break out by afternoon. Highland Scotland, the Pennines and central-eastern regions of England look most threatened by showers. Fewer showers in Wales and south-west England as pressure builds slightly in the west, although a scattering of showers may affect inland parts of Ireland. Again, any showers are likely to be slow moving and on the heavy side. Highs 18 to 22C, but locally warmer in any sun.
Wednesday
A northerly breeze on Wednesday, strongest around coastal areas, and may be quite windy on eastern coasts. Low pressure over the near continent and a warm front moving back westwards across the North Sea threatens to bring some rain to the east and south-east of England, most likely late on in the day. Otherwise most places are dry, if quite cloudy. The best of brighter and sunny spells in the west and south-west, although fronts to the north-west of Scotland and Ireland may increase cloud here, and the risk of a little patchy rain. Highs 17 to 22C, but eastern coasts may feel cooler in the breeze.
