Rain moving north Bright & breezy Saturday seiten=4 abk=focus

Friday
An unsettled day on Friday, with a complex series of low pressure systems affecting the British Isles. Rain in south-western Britain is expected to move erratically north-eastwards, to give a spell of heavy rain for northern England by afternoon. There is also the risk of thundery bursts of rain for East Anglia and the East Midlands during the morning and middle of the day. Southern regions should become brighter in the afternoon. Rain and showers will affect Scotland and Ireland, although eastern Scotland may well escape largely dry until late in the day. Light south-easterly winds. Temperatures 17 to 20C in the north, 23 or 24C in the south.

Friday night
Heavy rain is likely to continue in north-east England and eastern Scotland during Friday evening, slowly moving north-eastwards overnight into Saturday, to affect the far north-east of Scotland by dawn on Saturday morning. Showers continue to affect western parts of Scotland and Ireland. Much of England and Wales become dry, with skies clearing. A freshening south-westerly breeze. Overnight lows 8 to 13C.

Saturday
A breezy day on Saturday, but many areas will see sunny spells. Showers for Ireland, and western regions of Britain, but central and eastern areas of England and Scotland should remain dry and bright. Clouds thicken later from the south-west, with rain setting in across southern Ireland and the south-west of Britain toward evening. Winds strengthening to gale force around coasts in the south-west late in the day. Highs 16 to 19C in the north and west, 21 to 23C in central and southern areas.

Sunday
A deep area of low pressure - the remnants of ex-Hurricane Bertha - are expected to affect the British Isles on Sunday. A belt of heavy rain will sweep eastwards, and may clear central areas through the middle of the day. Heavy showers and longer spells of rain will follow from the west, and may persist all day in northern and western parts of Britain and Ireland. Strong to gale force winds will affect many areas, with the risk of severe gales around coasts and hills. Heavy seas also expected, especially in the south and west. Temperatures 18 to 22C in the south, 13 to 17C in the north.
