A fresh south to south-westerly breeze for Scotland and Ireland, strongest in the west. A light southerly breeze for the Midlands and south of England. Temperatures rising to between 19 and 23C by afternoon in England, Wales and Ireland, warmest in the south-east. 15 to 17C in Scotland.

Early dense fog patches and low cloud may be slow to clear some low lying areas in England and Wales. For many it will remain dry, with a little hazy sunshine, although often cloudy. A scattering of showers may develop by the middle of the day onwards, locally heavy, but very much hit and miss. Drizzly rain likely to continue for western Scotland. Highs 17 to 21C by afternoon, and may reach 23C in the south-east in any sunshine.

Tuesday
Early mist and fog patches across central and southern England on Tuesday morning, locally dense and slow to clear. Fronts approach the west of Ireland, spreading east through the day, bringing a band of rain to Ireland and western Scotland, although becoming increasingly patchy as it moves eastwards. England and Wales likely to remain dry and warm, with hazy sunshine, best in the east, but clouding over from the west. A freshening southerly breeze in north-west Britain and Ireland. Temperatures around 15 to 17C in the north and west, but 20 to 22C in the south and east.
