Rain spreading north-east Gusty winds in south seiten=4 abk=focus
Saturday
Low pressure affects the UK and Ireland, and fronts spread across southern Britain during the day. A period of heavy rain and strong winds moves west to east across the Midlands and southern counties of England. Gusty winds of 40 to locally 50mph in the south and east for a time in the middle of the day. Elsewhere a few pulses of heavy showery rain, may give an hour or more of rain locally in Wales and northern England, but Scotland may remain predominantly dry, although showery near the west coast. Lighter winds in northern and western Britain and Ireland. Showers for Ireland, most in the west, but an area of rain may also affect Irish Sea coasts. Temperatures between 8 or 9C in the north to 11 or 12C in the south.
Saturday night
A belt of locally heavy rain moves eastwards across eastern counties of England on Saturday evening, whilst a scattering of heavy showers continue to affect western coasts of Britain and Ireland overnight. Showery bursts of rain also likely for the south coast. Central areas dropping cool as cloud breaks, and locally dense fog patches may form as winds fall light. Overnight lows around 6 to 9C for most, but locally dropping below 3C in rural northern England and Scotland.
Sunday
A broad area of low pressure resides across the British Isles, but for many Sunday will a fair day. Areas of showery rain for Wales and south-west England, and a few showers around north-west England, northern and western Scotland, also western Ireland. A band of rain may linger in East Anglia and the far south-east, perhaps staying damp here for many hours. Central areas largely dry, some sunshine, but quite a lot of cloud. Locally dense mist and fog patches may be slow to clear in low lying areas of the Midlands, perhaps the Vale of York. Light winds for most, although breezy in the south-west. Feeling cool, highs 9 to 12C.
Monday
A cool start in northern and eastern Britain, with a few fog patches possible. Northern and eastern areas should have a largely dry and bright day, although a few clusters of showers may affect the east of Scotland. Showers on the south coast, before a more organised area of rain approaches from the south-west later, likely affecting Ireland and south-western England and Wales before the end of the afternoon. Freshening southerly winds, nearing gale force in the English Channel. Highs 8 to 10C in the north, to 11 or 12C in the south.
