Rain clearing Frequent showers in south-west seiten=4 abk=focus

Friday
Rain affects many areas on Friday morning, some heavy bursts, spreading north and eastwards during the morning. Brighter skies soon arriving in south Wales, south-west England and southern Ireland, although showers will develop into the afternoon, some heavy and perhaps thundery. The main area of rain clears the Midlands by late morning, although persists in eastern England into the early afternoon. Rain persists across Scotland, heaviest across the Highlands, particularly toward the south and east, but clearing from southern and central Scotland. South-easterly gales in the morning for Scotland and eastern England, gusts 60mph or higher, particularly exposed coasts and hills, slowly easing by afternoon. Highs 8 to 10C in the north, to 12 or 13C in the south.

Friday night
Rain in the north will become confined to the far north-east of Scotland overnight. Clusters of heavy showers will continue to affect the south and south-west of Britain and Ireland. Central and eastern areas dry overnight, although a lot of cloud. Light south-easterly winds for most, although gales continue in the Northern Isles. Overnight lows 5 to 8C for most, although locally 3 or 4C where skies clear in Scotland and northern England.

Saturday
Low pressure to the south-west of Britain and Ireland on Saturday will produce some heavy and possibly thundery showers for the south and south-west of England, south Wales and southern Ireland. A slow moving front will graze north-eastern Scotland, bringing persistent rain to the far north-east. Western Scotland remaining dry and bright overall. Northern Ireland, northern England, and the Midlands often dry, perhaps most of the day, although a few showers here and there. Highs 8 to 10C in northern Britain. 11 to 13C in the Midlands, Wales, southern England and Ireland.

Sunday
Low pressure will be centred over southern Britain on Sunday. Clusters of showers for southern counties, merging into longer periods of rain. Another frontal feature brings persistent, at times heavy rain to eastern regions of Scotland. Drier and brighter overall for the Midlands, northern England and western Scotland. Ireland too should be largely dry, although risk of showers in the south. Gusty winds in the far south, and also far north, but mostly light easterly winds in central areas. Temperatures ranging from 8 to 12C north to south.
