Dry with sunshine More cloud west & north seiten=4 abk=focus

Tuesday
Plenty of dry and bright weather on Tuesday as high pressure builds across the south. Good amounts of sunshine, most extensive in central, southern and eastern regions. More cloud in the west, particularly for Ireland and western Scotland, with patchy drizzle, but amounts small. Light winds for England and Wales, a fresher south-westerly in the north and west. Locally blustery northerly winds near the south coast in the morning. Feeling quite mild in the sun after a chilly start - afternoon highs reaching 7 to 9C for most, locally higher to the east of high ground in Scotland and northern England.

Tuesday night
Clouds slowly becoming more extensive from the west overnight, preventing frost for most areas. Where skies stay clearest in the south and east, lows may dip to freezing, but typically near 2 to 5C, or higher in Ireland and the north-west under thicker cloud. Light rain and drizzle in the north and west, accompanied by a brisk south-westerly breeze.

Wednesday
High pressure continues to influence the south and east. A freshening south-westerly breeze strengthens locally to gale force across northern and western areas. Low cloud and drizzle for many western facing coasts and hills. Rain turning heavier and more persistent later in the west of Ireland and Scotland. Dry and bright in the east, but becoming broadly cloudy for all. Feeling quite mild at 9 to 12C for most, highest temperatures likely to the east of the Pennines and also north-east Scotland.

Thursday
A cold front moving south-east across the country will bring showery outbreaks of rain, although becoming patchy toward south-eastern England. Brighter skies spread from the west, with sunshine breaking through. Showers will then affect western regions, some heavy with sleet or hail mixed in. Gusty south-westerly winds as the front passes, easing slowly from the west, but squally around showers. Temperatures 7 to 10C, but tending to fall through the day.
