Wednesday
Rain spreads north-eastwards across Britain and Ireland. A wet start across Ireland, but brightening up considerably by afternoon. Patchy rain for Wales, north-west England and south-western Scotland will set in, becoming heavier by late morning into early afternoon. A dry and bright start in the east, but clouds soon thickening across the Midlands and central-southern England - rain arriving during the middle of the day. Patchy rain and drizzle becomes more persistent for eastern counties during the afternoon, although the south-east of England will avoid most of the rain. Windy in the north and west, with gales developing for coasts and hills. Temperatures ranging from 7 to 9C in the north and west, nearer 11C in the south.
Wednesday night
The last of the rain clears quickly eastwards during Wednesday evening, with clouds breaking up for most areas, although southern England staying mostly cloudy. Winds falling light. Local low lying mist patches for the Midlands. Lowest temperatures toward the north where skies clear, around 0 or -1C. Typically 2 to 5C in the south.
Thursday
High pressure to the east of the British Isles. Low pressure situated to the west moving northwards. Central and eastern England likely to stay dry throughout the day, best sunshine toward the south-east. Clouds thickening across the Midlands. Fronts affecting Ireland, western and north-western Britain. Rain and drizzle for western regions, including Ireland and the Irish Sea, increasingly setting in and turning heavy across the west and south-west of Scotland. Patchy light rain for Wales and the south-west. Feeling mild in the south, highs 11 to 14C.
Friday
A slow moving front situated across eastern England is likely to bring a cloudy and damp day to eastern counties. Rain may persist for several hours, although some uncertainty about the extent and duration of rain. Further west and north-west, it will be a much brighter day. Dry with sunny spells for Wales, Ireland and Scotland. Much of the West Midlands and western regions of England should also stay dry, with variable amounts of cloud. Light winds for most. Temperatures between 7 and 11C, feeling cool where rain lingers.
