Cloudy and cool Brightest toward north-west seiten=4 abk=focus

Saturday
A cool and dull day for many, with a breeze from the east or north-east across England and Wales. A lot of cloud and murk, particularly central and eastern counties, with little if any sunshine. Patchy drizzle for eastern coasts and hills, perhaps a little light snow over higher ground of the North York Moors, eastern Peak District and Pennines, but amounts small. Spits of drizzle too along English Channel coasts. Best brightness to the west of high ground in Wales and north-west England, whilst north-western Scotland should fare best for a bright and sunny day. Variable cloud across Ireland. Feeling cool at 6 or 7C in eastern England. 8 to 10C for western regions.

Saturday night
A lot of cloud cover for central and eastern regions, with some fog over the hills in north-eastern England. Clearer spells toward the west will allow a slight frost to develop. Most places dry. Light winds on the whole. Overnight lows 0 to 2C in the west, locally slightly below freezing in rural spots. Typically 3 to 5C for central and eastern England.

Sunday
A continued easterly pattern, with little change overall from Saturday. Extensive cloud cover for many areas, thick enough for spits of drizzle in the east. Most places will see very little if any precipitation, although it may remain quite damp. Best brightness toward the west of Britain and Ireland. Sunshine again perhaps extensive for north-western Scotland. Feeling chilly in the breeze, particularly near North Sea coasts. Highs 6 to 10C.

Monday
High pressure is expected to be a strong feature centred over Scandinavia to start the new week. Widespread low cloud and murky conditions, particularly central and eastern Britain. Outbreaks of light rain or drizzle, most persistent over eastern facing hills in northern England. Grey and damp conditions and an east to south-easterly breeze means it will again feel cool. Brighter skies toward the far west and north-west of Britain and Ireland, locally a little sun coming through. Highs struggling to do better than 6 to 9C for many.
