Showery and cold Snow on hills seiten=4 abk=focus

Tuesday
Rain across East Anglia and southeast England this morning. This should be slowly clearing to leave rather a lot of cloud and a few showers. More persistent showers across northern and western Scotland, Wales, western England and Ireland, some of them heavy at times and falling as snow on the hills of Scotland and northern England. The showers then swing through all parts of the UK and Ireland this afternoon. Again, some of them may be heavy and they will fall as sleet and snow over the Pennines and Scottish Hills as well as the tops of the Welsh mountains. A cold day with highs at 6 to 10C.

Tuesday night
Further showers overnight, mostly in the north and east. The showers in the west should fade away, although there is always the risk of catching some on western coasts and hills. For most the night becomes dry and chilly with variable cloud. A frost for many with lows of 0C although lower than this in central Scotland and parts of north Wales and northern England.

Wednesday
Rather a cloudy start in northern and eastern areas as the remains of low pressure in the North Sea continue to produce cloud and some spots of rain. A ridge of high pressure is going to be building further west and this will break the cloud, allowing a few sunnier spells to come through. An occluded front reaches western Ireland and Scotland in the afternoon. Turning wet in Ireland with some heavy rain, this reaching western Scotland by the evening. Highs at 7 to 10C and still feeling chilly.

Thursday
Low pressure in the North Sea on Thursday takes a front eastwards with it. This brings rain through Scotland and eastern England. However, a ridge of high pressure is going to be building to the west, and this will be bringing drier weather with it, although still with a few showers on western coasts. Highs at 6 to 10C.
