Rain at first in northern Scotland this morning, but this tending to clear into Shetland around breakfast time, and then moving away into the North Sea by early afternoon. Elsewhere the day is going to be dry with broken cloud and some sunny spells. The cloud breaking further as the morning progresses leading to a dry afternoon with some reasonable spells of sunshine. A few showers developing in central parts of Ireland. Highs near 25C in the far southeast of England, 16C in northern Scotland.
Thursday night
Cloud and outbreaks of rain drifting through Ireland and onto western coasts of Wales and England as well as southwest Scotland as the night progresses. Elsewhere the night should be dry with broken cloud and clear spells with temperatures down to 6 to 10C.
Friday
A ridge of high pressure builds during the day through much of the UK and Ireland. A weakening front brings some cloud and spots of rain in northern England and Scotland as well as parts of Wales. Gradually brightening up on western coasts and hills, becoming mostly dry with some sunny spells forming. More eastern and southern areas should be dry with broken cloud and a few bright or sunny spells. Tops near 25C in southeast England, more generally 16 to 19C.
Saturday
A ridge of high pressure is maintained through the country on Saturday. This should bring dry weather to many with spells of sunshine, the best of them in the east and south. Fronts pushing thicker cloud and rain into Ireland and western Scotland, the winds increasing here too. Highs at 25C in southeast England, 16C in central Ireland and Scotland.
