Thundery rain heads north Heavy rain Friday seiten=4 abk=focus

Thursday
A breezy and muggy morning across much of the southern half of England and Wales on Thursday. There will be some outbreaks of thundery rain here, these travelling northwards, although with much uncertainty as to the timing of the rain and the amount. Suffice to say the thundery bursts of rain could be heavy at times, and as they intensify could lead to some local flooding, especially in the afternoon. Northern England, Scotland and most of Ireland should stay dry and humid as first with sunny spells. Thundery rain could start to affect northern England and the far east of Ireland at some point during the afternoon. Tops at 21C in northern Scotland, 26C in central and southern England.

Thursday night
Heavy periods of thundery rain overnight. These edge north and west, leading to localised flooding in places. Still doubt over where the heaviest rain will be, but at the present time central, southern and eastern Scotland, northern England, the Midlands, Wales and southwest England seem to be most at risk. Dry for eastern Ireland, but isolated showers in the west. Lows at a muggy 12 to 18C.

Friday
Low pressure is going to be centred over the country on Friday. Rain surrounds the low bringing wet weather to much of Scotland, England and Wales. There will be cracks of thunder too, although the rain eases away towards the east as the afternoon progresses. However, eastern Scotland and eastern England may stay damp throughout. Becoming brighter and drier to the west with sunny spells, and feeling fresher too. Highs at 26C in East Anglia, more generally 14 to 17C.

Saturday
A slack pressure flow over the country on Saturday. There will be plenty of dry weather around. Cloud will be breaking with some bright or sunny spells developing. Scattered showers affecting western Scotland, Wales and southwest England as well as Ireland. More eastern areas will be dry with sunny spells continuing. Temperatures rising to 15 to 20C.
