Cloudy, patchy rain Unsettled next few days seiten=4 abk=focus

Tuesday
A lot of cloud across the country. Areas of intermittent showery rain, mainly in the east & south, but very hit and miss, meaning some may stay dry most of the day, whilst nearby it may rain for a few hours. Strong to gale force winds in the south-east will ease through the morning. Glimpses of sun may come through in north-west England. Temperatures ranging from 13 to 16C in the north & west, to 17 or 18C in the south-east.

Tuesday night
Cloud thickening from the south will bring patchy, but increasingly persistent rain to southern Britain. Fairly light winds in the Midlands and north, but easterly winds will strengthen around English Channel coasts. Overnight lows 8 to 11C in the south, but where skies clear in the north, it may dip below 5C, giving rural grass frost in some valleys of Scotland, northern England and Northern Ireland. Local mist and fog.

Wednesday
Low pressure affects the British Isles, primarily centred toward the south. Pulses of persistent heavy rain spread north & east across Britain, although some uncertainty about exact details. Winds may reach gale force around the south coast. Much of Scotland & Ireland should get away with just isolated showers and light winds, highs of 16C. Temperatures up to a humid 19C in the south-east, but nearer 14C in rain.

Thursday
Continued unsettled conditions. A legacy of heavy rain is likely to persist in northern & eastern regions for many hours. Rain may pivot around north-east Scotland, locally threatening a very wet day here. Frequent showery pulses of rain will affect south-western Britain, spreading eastwards. Limited sunshine. Showery too for Ireland. Blustery winds. Highs 14 to 18C.
