Tuesday
Strong south-westerly winds continue, gusting gale force on exposed coasts and over hills. Persistent rain for western parts of Scotland & Northern Ireland. Small amounts of rain reaching the east of Scotland. Drizzly rain for north-west England & west Wales will be on and off all day. Central, south & eastern England remain largely dry, and brighter, although limited sunshine. Very mild again, highs 14 up to 17C east of the Pennines.

Tuesday night
Most rain fades to patchy drizzle overnight across Britain. Largely cloudy skies, with extensive hill fog in the north & west. Local breaks in the cloud toward the east. Further rain is expected to set in across Ireland, turning increasingly heavy. Winds remaining brisk, gusts 50mph around exposed coasts and hills in the north & west. Mild temperatures, 7 to 10C for Scotland & Ireland, but England & Wales staying around 12 or 13C.

Wednesday
Slow moving fronts continue to affect the north-west of Britain & Ireland, bringing prolonged heavy falls of rain to south-west Scotland, Cumbria & perhaps Wales, giving a risk of flooding. Generally drier to the east of high ground, and mostly just spots of rain reaching the Midlands & south-east of England. Strong south-westerlies will again reach gale force, gusts to 60mph for exposed western areas. Highs 13 to 16C.

Thursday
Low pressure to the north-west is likely to deepen and push fronts into the north & west of Britain and Ireland. Winds increasing to gale force in exposed regions. Rain likely to set in through the day across Ireland, and later western Scotland, north-west England & Wales. Central & south-eastern Britain may stay dry all day, with hazy sunshine at first giving way to thickening high level cloud. Mild again, highs 12 to 16C.
