Wednesday
Low pressure to the north-west produces another windy day, gusting over 60mph in exposed spots in the west & north-west. Fronts move eastwards, bringing rain to Ireland & north-western Britain early morning, soon spreading across Scotland, northern England & Wales. Patchy rain also reaches the Midlands. The far south & south-east should stay largely dry but cloudy. Turning showery for Ireland. Mild again, highs 10 to 13C, up to 15C in the south.

Wednesday night
Blustery winds continue, strongest toward the north. A scattering of squally showers, most widespread and frequent in the north-west. Clearer spells developing for central and southern areas. Clouds thicken from the south-west later, and rain is likely to develop across southern Ireland and south-western Britain later in the night. Fairly mild, overnight lows 7 to 11C.

Thursday
Persistent rain for England & Wales, particularly central & southern areas, spreading from west to east. Eastern England may stay dry for a few hours in the morning. The south-west brightens up later. Northern England & eastern Scotland largely dry and bright. Showers for the west & north of Scotland, also N.Ireland. A front brings more organised rain to northern Scotland. The wind remains brisk, and cool in north. Highs 10 to 13C.

Friday
Fronts extending across southern counties of England may bring persistent rain for many hours. Brighter conditions for Wales and the northern Midlands, with some sunshine. For northern Britain, areas of persistent showers are likely to become increasingly wintry, falling as sleet or snow to low levels across Scotland and later northern England, accompanied by gusty winds. Temperatures falling from the north, highs 7 to 10C.
