Tuesday
A cold day with a brisk northwest wind affecting much of the country today. There will be cloud and periods of rain, sleet and some snow over the hills of Northern Ireland, northwest England and western Scotland. Damp too for Wales with an increasing risk of snow on the hills. A scattering of showers in eastern Scotland and northeast England, but drier for many other eastern parts. The cloud, rain and sleet moving into the Midlands and southeastern parts of England. Brighter over southwest England and Ireland, feeling cold here as well. Tops near 4 to 7C.

Tuesday Night
Becoming increasingly wintry over the high ground of Scotland and northern England during tonight as ever colder air drains south through the country. Damp and cold in much of eastern Scotland and England, this perhaps turning to sleet on its western edge as it clears eastwards. Drier weather arriving in the west, although some showers always affecting western coasts and hills, these falling as snow in western Scotland and Northern Ireland. Lows at 0 to 3C.

Wednesday
An area of low pressure is likely to be near northern Scotland on Wednesday. Damp and rather cloudy in western areas, with sleet or even some snow on the hills here. Drier in the east and north at first with broken cloud and some bright or sunny spells. Damp and cloud across much of Ireland, England and Wales during the afternoon. Most of the rain and sleet in the west, but some snow on the hills. Cloud and wintry showers in the far north of Scotland. Eastern England and the rest of Scotland generally dry but cold. Tops near 3 to 7C.

Thursday
A complex area of low pressure over and to the east of the country on Thursday. A cold northwest wind persists bringing cloud and periods of rain, sleet and snow. Little changes through the day with most of the precipitation expected around western, northern and eastern coasts and hills. Breezy across many parts of the UK. Highs at 3 to 5C for most.
