Friday
A cold north-westerly wind will make it feel bitterly cold in exposed areas. Plenty of bright winter sunshine, and inland areas remain largely dry all day. Areas of frequent snow and hail showers affect coastal districts in the west & north, spreading inland toward the West Midlands at times, giving local slight accumulations of snow. Isolated thunder. Scattered showers for coastal East Anglia. A frosty start. Daytime temperatures 3 to 6C.
Friday night
Areas of sleet and snow showers will continue for exposed north facing coasts, particularly in eastern Britain, will further accumulations possible, particularly North Yorkshire Moors. For most areas it will be a dry and clear night, with the wind easing. Widespread frost soon forming after dark, also ice following daytime showers. Overnight lows widely 0 to -2C in towns & cities, but locally -5C or lower in rural areas, possible -10C in Scottish glens.
Saturday
Largely dry with a good amount of bright sunshine. A brisk northerly wind brings a scattering of snow showers to North Sea coasts, these locally frequent. Risk of a band of snow showers affecting western Scotland and Northern Ireland. Lighter winds elsewhere, but a cold day for all, frost lasting all day out of sunlight. Temperatures will struggle to climb above freezing in northern areas, highs 3 or 4C in Midlands & south.
Sunday
A widespread hard frost to start the morning, overnight lows below freezing for most areas, locally below -5C in rural spots, or locally -10C in some Scottish glens over snow cover. A dry and sunny day overall. Some early fog patches may be slow to clear. Possible snow showers toward the far north of Scotland. High level cloud slowly thickens from the west. Rain develops across Ireland later as a southerly breeze freshens. Daytime highs 1 to 5C.
