A slack area of high pressure maintains generally cool, dull & quiet conditions. Some sunshine for south-eastern England. Weak fronts toward the south-west may bring a little light rain. A few drizzly showers possible near the east coast of England. Murky low cloud across the Pennines, central & southern Scotland may produce occasional sleet or snow. Drizzly across Ireland. Very little wind overall. Daytime highs 2 to 5C, locally milder far south-west.

Tuesday night
Northern & eastern Britain likely to stay overcast, with fog across the hills, and murky at low levels. Greater cloud breaks across the Midlands, Wales and south-east England may lead to low level freezing fog forming widely. Light winds for all parts. Overnight temperatures will depend on local cloud/fog, but lows typically near or just below 0C. A few rural spots may dip to -5C, possibly lower in any clearer spells in Scotland.

Wednesday
Dry and very benign conditions continue, with extensive areas of murk and low cloud, most widely toward the north & east. Fog patches may persist in central & eastern England. A little drizzle or a sleet/snow flurry. Brighter skies toward the south-west of Britain, possibly a good amount of sunshine locally, but slight haze likely. Mostly very little wind, although a fresh south-easterly breeze for Devon & Cornwall. Chilly at 2 to 5C for most, 7C south-west.

Thursday
High pressure situated toward the south-east of Britain maintains quiet conditions, particularly across central & eastern regions. Areas of mist and fog in the morning may be slow to clear in low lying areas of the Midlands & east. A fresh southerly breeze for western coasts. A little sun locally. Patchy rain may reach western Ireland, otherwise it stays dry. Temperatures starting cold with frost, rising slowly to 3 to 5C for many, 7C south-west.
