Friday
A stormy morning for much of the UK with low pressure to the northwest of Scotland. This brings severe gales and rain through Scotland, heavy in the west, although only patchy in the east. The rain turning increasingly to sleet and snow over Scottish Hills. Becoming brighter in the afternoon across Scotland, but cooler too. Showers following into the north and west and these increasingly turning wintry. Elsewhere a band of cloud turning more showery as it passes across northern England and Ireland this morning, and then through the Midlands and Wales this afternoon. Cloud and rain reaching southern England later, and then staying cloudy and damp for much of the rest of the afternoon. Drier and brighter weather following through northern England and Ireland as well as Ireland. Highs near 5 to 8C in northern areas, 12C in southern England.

Friday Night
An area of more persistent rain across southern England and Wales during this evening, clearing southeast England by the morning. Colder away from this rain band with showers affecting much of Scotland, northern England, Wales and Ireland. The showers falling widely as snow over Scotland and northern England as well as Ireland. Lows near 0 to 4C.

Saturday
Low pressure remains north of Scotland on Saturday. A front clears southeastern England taking residual rain with them. Heavy showers in much of northern and western Scotland as well as northwest England and Ireland. The showers falling as sleet and snow, even to lower levels. Drier in central and eastern areas with some bright or sunny spells here. Feeling cold too. Highs around 1C in central Scotland, 8C in the far south of England.

Sunday
A weak ridge of high pressure is temporarily expected to be building through the UK and Ireland on Sunday. Fronts arriving from the west during the afternoon. A chilly morning with scattered wintry showers. Some sunny spells for most on Sunday morning. Cloud increasing from the west bringing rain into Ireland on Sunday morning and then through southwest England. This cloud and rain spreads through Northern Ireland, Wales and the rest of southern and southwest England by evening. Increased cloud elsewhere. Highs near 2 to 7C for many, although 12C as the milder air arrives through Ireland, Wales and southwest England.
