Wednesday
A front passing east through the country on Wednesday. This brings a damp and chilly day across southern and eastern Scotland as well as northern England and Wales, together with southeast England and the Midlands. Rain could be heavy at times over southwestern facing hills and coasts. Rain also turning to snow on the hills. Dry in the morning over East Anglia and southeast England with a few bright spells. Cloud increases in the afternoon with rain and spells or rain, sleet and snow by evening. In Scotland rain clears the south in the morning, and it becomes brighter during the day with sunny spells. A fine day in much of Ireland with good spells of sunshine here, but some wintry showers reaching western Scotland and western Ireland in the late afternoon. Highs at 2 to 5C.

Wednesday Night
Overnight it stays damp in East Anglia and southeast England with further spells of rain and drizzle here. Some sleet and snow too, especially, but not exclusively over high ground. Some wintry showers in western Scotland and western Ireland. Elsewere it should be dry with a frost developing under clear skies. Lows at 1C in the damp weather in southeast England, -1 to -3C under clearer skies.

Thursday
A weak occluded front over southeast England bringing a cold morning here with rain, sleet and some wet snow. This should slowly clear in the afternoon with drier weather arriving. Becoming brighter further west and north with some sunny spells, although showers will affect the west of Scotland and western Ireland.

Friday
Brighter across much of England, with some sunshine in the east. Fronts arriving from the Atlantic into the west & north of Britain and Ireland. Rain on and off for Scotland, with snow over the mountains. Outbreaks of rain develop for Wales & north-west England through the day, and some showery bursts may spread to the Midlands by evening. Freshening west to south-westerly winds. Slightly milder, highs 5 to 8C.
