Mostly dry & sunny Early eastern sleet seiten=4 abk=focus

Thursday
A cloudy and damp morning across East Anglia and southeast England this morning. There will be some sleet and wet snow to, mostly on the hills. Much brighter further north and west with an early frost and some good spells of sunshine. The rain in the southeast fades this afternoon, with most of the UK and Ireland then dry and bright. A few showers affecting western Scotland and the west and central parts of Ireland. Tops at 4 to 7C.

Thursday Night
Scattered showers on western coasts and hills tonight, but these fading fairly quickly. Skies then become clear and winds fall light. A widespread frost is expected to develop. Thicker cloud and increasing winds in Ireland during the early hours bring rain from the west, this then spreading east to reach the far west of Scotland by morning. Lows at -3 to 1C.

Friday
A weak ridge of high pressure extends through the UK on Friday morning. This brings a fair and frosty start for many. Some good spells of sunshine to start the day. A front into western Scotland and Ireland brings more cloud here, together with outbreaks of rain. This is going to be spreading eastwards into northern England, Wales and southwest England during the afternoon and evening, most of it light and patchy. Becoming breezier too. Highs at 6 to 9C.

Saturday
Low pressure to the north of Scotland on Saturday bringing a windy day for all, with fronts trailing west to east through the country. There will be periods of rain, some of it heavy at times in the west and northwest. All places tending to be cloudy and damp. Feeling cold in Scotland with sleet and snow, mainly on the hills. Milder further south. Little change is expected throughout the day. Tops at 11C in southern England, 4C in central Scotland.
