Saturday
A cloudy, windy day for most. Slow moving fronts across Wales & northern England, bring persistent rain to western areas, heaviest over hills. Occasional rain or drizzle for the Midlands & eastern England. Mainly dry in southern counties. Murky in the south-west - hill & coastal fog. Frequent showers in western Scotland - snow on the mountains. South-westerly gales for coasts & hills. Chilly in Scotland at 5C, but mild elsewhere, highs 10 to 12C.

Saturday night
Rain will continue to affect north-west England & Wales during the evening and night, occasional prolonged and heavy bursts. There may be localised flooding. Pulses of rain will come and go for Ireland & Scotland - again widely snow over the Highlands. Largely dry south & east. Brisk winds, gales in exposure. Cloudy and staying mild overall, particularly Midlands & south, staying near 10C. Lows in northern areas 3 to 5C.

Sunday
Low pressure north of Scotland brings a blustery, unsettled day to most areas. Fronts across central-northern England & Wales bring persistent rain, occasional heavy bursts. Showery in north-western Britain & Ireland, snow on hills - to increasingly low levels. Southern England may escape dry much of the day, but rain develops later. Strong south-westerly winds, gales in exposure. Cool in north at 6 or 7C, but very mild in south, 12 to 14C.

Monday
A cold front clears southwards, leaving chilly north-westerly winds across Britain & Ireland. Local gales in exposed north-east. Plenty of sunshine in the morning, but wintry showers in northern regions will become increasingly widespread, spreading across Wales & the Midlands - hail and isolated thunder. Frequent snow over the northern Scottish Highlands, although south-east Scotland stays largely dry. Feeling cool, highs 4 to 8C.
