Dry for many, rain far west Cold winds this weekend seiten=4 abk=focus
Friday
Low pressure and slow moving fronts bring outbreaks of rain and gusty winds to south-western England & Wales, some heavy bursts. A few showers may extend into central-southern England. Wet for Ireland, but rain quite patchy toward Northern Ireland. A little rain in south-west Scotland. Dry with light winds elsewhere, some sunshine in the east & north of Britain, where it will start frosty, but clouds tending to fill in during the day. Highs 5 to 8C.
Friday night
Most places will be dry overnight. Rain across Ireland will become confined to the far west. Variable cloud across central & southern Britain, plus a fresh easterly breeze should keep temperatures just above freezing in southern Britain, although sheltered spots may dip below zero. Light winds and clear skies in northern England & Scotland will result in another widespread frost here, lows -2 towns, or -5C in rural areas, perhaps near -10C some Highland glens.
Saturday
High pressure over northern Britain and low pressure over France brings a chilly north-easterly wind, strongest over southern regions, and feeling distinctly cold near to North Sea & English Channel coasts. Dry for many, but scattered wintry showers will drift off the seas into eastern England, and one or two may clip the south coast. Broken cloud and some sunshine, best in west. Weak fronts bring some rain at first to western Ireland. Highs 5 to 7C.
Sunday
High pressure across the north builds slowly southwards during the day, but maintains a brisk and chilly wind across southern regions. Again, a few bands of wintry showers may drift onto eastern coasts, but most places should stay dry. Fairly cloudy in the east. Best sunshine toward the west. A cold start, with a hard frost in northern Britain & Ireland. Daytime temperature slowly rising by early afternoon to between 5 and 8C.
