Fine and dry across central and eastern parts of England with sunny spells after a cold, frosty start. A bit milder today with maximum temperatures of 5 to 9 Celsius.

A windy evening and night across Britain with gales across Scotland. A wet evening away from eastern parts of Scotland and England. A wet night to come for all and the rain will be quite heavy across western Scotland, north west England and Wales. Expect minimums of 3 to 8 Celsius.

It remains very windy today with coastal gales. It will be quite mild. Overall a cloudy, grey day with outbreaks of rain. This may be heaviest across England and Wales more light and patchy in the afternoon. As it turns colder late in the day across Scotland the rain may change to snow over the northern hills of Scotland and Northern Ireland. A colder, windy night with clear spells and a risk of scattered, wintry across Britain along with some icy patches. Expect top temperatures of 8 to 12 Celsius north to south.
