Sunshine and showers Frosty Thursday night seiten=4 abk=focus

Thursday
Low pressure drifts south-east across the North Sea. Clusters of showers spreading from the north-west, most frequent around coasts in the north & west, but some locally frequent bursts of rain will move across the Midlands, local hail. Often dry in central-southern England, and much of Scotland away from the west coast. Showers fade later as pressure builds. Sunny spells. A brisk north-westerly breeze. Cool at 6 to 9C, up to 12C south-west.

Thursday night
Pressure briefly builds across the country overnight, allowing skies to widely clear. Any residual showers near south-eastern coasts will fade. The north-westerly breeze will ease - light winds for all by dawn. Local fog patches may form around river valleys. Temperatures dipping close to or below freezing for most inland areas, resulting in widespread ground frost. Scottish glens likely to drop below -5C.

Friday
High pressure across south-eastern Britain brings a cool but fair day to most places. Hazy sunshine, best in the morning. Cloud will thicken from the west as fronts approach from the Atlantic. Rain sets in across Ireland, and extends onto western coasts of Britain into the evening. Light winds, but southerlies will freshen in the west, touching gale force by evening. Just 6 to 8C in the north & east, up to 12C south-west.

Saturday
An area of low pressure drifts slowly east across Britain. A slow moving swathe of rain is likely to affect much of the country, although some uncertainty about the location of the heaviest rain. Staying cool where rain persists, although milder air is likely to spread from the west. Brightening skies and scattered showers in the far west. Strong southerly winds ahead of the rain, later veering westerly. Highs 8 to 13C, mildest in south-west.
