An occluded front advances east across Britain, bringing extensive cloud and persistent rain. West & northern regions become dry soon after dawn, some sun breaking through. Central areas slowly improve, whilst rain will linger in eastern England into the afternoon. A few showers in western Scotland & N.Ireland. Blustery winds, strongest in north-east early morning. Cool at 7C in the east, but rising to 10 to 13C elsewhere, warmest south-west.
Saturday night
Staying cloudy with a little rain in the south-east, but dry for most places, and cloud breaking from the west. A north-westerly breeze, strongest around coasts in the south & east. A south-westerly flow brings cloudy skies to western Scotland. Some mist patches may form in sheltered spots inland. Lowest temperatures 3 to 7C, but locally dipping close to freezing in rural areas where skies clear - risk of a local ground frost.
Sunday
A ridge of high pressure builds from the south-west. A dry and bright day for most places. Sunshine breaking through. Patches of rain may linger in the south-east. An approaching warm front brings thickening cloud in western areas, plus rain or drizzle for Northern Ireland and western Scotland, where a south-westerly breeze will freshen. A cool northerly breeze in south-eastern regions, otherwise light winds. Highs 8 to 11C.
Monday
High pressure extends across southern Britain bringing largely fair conditions to the Midlands & south. Weak fronts pass eastwards across northern areas. Mostly cloudy skies, but some sun may break through in the south-east. Outbreaks of rain or drizzle toward the north-west, most persistent over hills. Murky with low cloud around many western coasts. A light south-westerly breeze. Mild, 10 to 14C.
