Rain and gales Sunday Fresher, breezy into next week seiten=4 abk=focus

Sunday
An active area of low pressure swings in from the south-west, bringing heavy rain and winds reaching gale force in places, focused on coasts in the west & south-west, and also over many hilly regions. The strong winds will transfer east through the day. A swathe of rain will set in for several hours, heavy at times, then clearing eastwards leaving sunshine and showers spreading from the west in the afternoon. Top temperatures 17 to 22C.

Sunday night
Most of Sunday's rain will have cleared, although some rain may be slow to clear from northern Scotland. Scattered showers around coasts in the west & south-west, merging locally into persistent rain for west Wales and western Scotland later in the night. A little patchy rain may run into south-east England from the Channel. Broken cloud and clear spells. A brisk southwesterly breeze. Lows 9 to 14C, locally cooler Scottish Highlands.

Monday
Low pressure will be to the north-west, promoting a south to southwesterly breeze, strongest in the west & north-west. Clusters of showers, most frequent for the north and west of Britain and Ireland, whilst the Midlands and south-east will be commonly dry with scattered passing showers and periods of sunshine. Chance of local heavy or thundery downpours. A fresh feel, highs 17C Scotland & Ireland, 19 to 22C England & Wales, but up to 25C in the south-east.

Tuesday
Low pressure stays to the north-west of the British Isles, and fronts will move into Northern Ireland and western Scotland. Staying breezy in the west and north, with further showers, merging into longer periods of rain. Localised showers for central and southern Britain, but many places often staying dry with some sunshine. Warmest in the far south-east, up to 25C, but nearer 18 to 22C for most.
