Low pressure lies to the north-west of the British Isles, and fronts will move in from the Atlantic. Showers merging into longer periods of rain for western Scotland, plus north-western parts of Ireland. Patchy rain at times elsewhere for western Britain. Central, south & eastern areas generally dry with some sunshine. Early showers clearing from the south-east. A southwesterly breeze, strongest in the north-west. Warmest in East Anglia, up to 25C, but nearer 18 to 22C for most.
Tuesday night
Rain continues into the night for west & north-west Scotland, some persistent heavy falls over the mountains. Patchy rain or drizzle around western coasts and hills in England & Wales. Fairly dry across Ireland, but a little drizzle at times. Staying breezy across northern Britain and Ireland. Dry with light winds for the Midlands, south & east, cloud breaking to give clear spells. Temperatures 10 to 14C, locally cooler in rural Wales and Scotland.
Wednesday
A south to southwesterly pattern continues, with high pressure toward the south-east. Variable cloud with occasional showery rain in the west and north. More organised rain moves into Ireland from the west through the day, where winds will strengthen. Generally dry and bright toward the south and east of Britain. Breezy for north & western areas, lighter winds and sea breezes in the south & east. Highs 17 to 26C, warmest south-east.
Thursday
A southwesterly pattern, with high pressure to the south. A few clusters of showers or locally some organised rain for Scotland and Ireland as fronts move in from the west. Patchy rain also for north-west England & Wales. Central and south-eastern Britain should be dry all day with some sun. Breezy for the north & west, lighter winds south-east. A humid 25 to 29C south, but fresh in Scotland & Northern Ireland, 17 to 21C, locally 23C north-east.
