Sunny Saturday for many Wet in western Scotland seiten=4 abk=focus
Saturday
Lots of sunshine across England & Wales, plus the south & east of Scotland. Some wispy high cloud at times. A cold front affects north-west Scotland, bringing leaden skies and rain becoming persistent, edging slowly southwards across the West Highlands. Cloud thickening too for Northern Ireland, with a little rain developing. A brisk southwesterly breeze in the north, and an easterly near the English Channel, but light winds central areas. Highs 13 to 18C, warmest south.
Saturday night
Cloud will spread south across the country, and may bring a little rain to north-west England and southern Scotland associated with a weakening cold front. Skies staying fairly clear in the south of England, and cloud should break up across northern Scotland. A west to northwesterly breeze, strongest near coasts. Temperatures staying around 7 to 10C beneath cloud, locally dipping to 5C or below in southern Britain, and slight frost may develop in Highland glens.
Sunday
Another dry day for central, south and eastern regions of Britain and Ireland. Greater amounts of cloud than previous days, and a stronger breeze from the west/north-west. A few showers are likely to come into north-western areas, most frequent in western Scotland, but typically brief for western coasts of England & Wales. Best of the sunshine and temperatures toward the south-east, where highs up to 17C. Nearer 11 to 14C for the north & west.
Monday
A fresh northwesterly pattern influences the British Isles. A few showers are possible around coastal areas in the east and west, but much of central and southern Britain should stay dry. Variable cloud and spells of sunshine. Broadly dry for Scotland and Ireland, but fronts coming in from the Atlantic will see cloud thicken, then rain develops for western Scotland later. Feeling cool, highs 11 to 16C.
