Slack high pressure influences the British Isles. Areas of low cloud and fog, in places persistent all day. Some sunshine breaking through in the south and east. A little drizzle in the west and north-west, persistently damp much of the day, but rainfall amounts small. Winds mostly light. Mild, top temperatures 7 to 11C, but cooler if fog lingers.
Thursday night
Staying dry for most places, but the atmosphere remains damp, with a lot of low cloud and fog. A risk of extensive low level fog across central and eastern England. A freshening south-westerly breeze for north-western Britain and Ireland ahead of fronts coming in from the Atlantic, which will bring rain or drizzle, most persistent in western Scotland. Lows 2 to 6C.
Friday
A trough of low pressure and fronts will move across Scotland and northern England bringing a period of rain followed by showers, clearing from the west as pressure rebuilds later. A little rain for Wales and the Midlands. Largely dry for the south and east. Sunshine breaking through for Ireland. Breezy in the north, gusty westerly winds. Highs 7 to 11C.
Saturday
High pressure lies to the south, whilst further fronts move into northwestern Britain and Ireland. Largely dry for central & south-east England. Rain and drizzle for western Scotland and Northern Ireland plus brisk southwesterly winds, perhaps local gales. Some rain may also affect Wales and north-west England. Highs 6 to 10C.
