High pressure dominant. Mixed middle
Our forecast of last week seems to be holding true, with the pattern indicating a cold shot of Arctic air across much of the UK and Ireland.
The inflection during the opening period of March was also for anticyclonic conditions to dominate the weather pattern and it is reassuring to see that the majority of the computer model forecast runs indicate that this may be so.
Our forecast pattern now indicates that despite a hint of more mixed weather around the middle of March, high pressure will once again become dominant across much of the country. Pressure should be building to the east, so the driest of the weather will be here with western areas more changeable.
The latter stages of March probably seeing a more mobile westerly flow establishing through all districts, although the pattern indicates that this may not be too cyclonic, with just a weak westerly. High pressure may be maintained south of the country and so more southern parts of England, Wales and SE Ireland could see little rain.
