High pressure building, then unsettled
We are quite pleased with our forecast pattern this week. For some time we have indicated that high pressure would build back into the UK and Ireland around the 6th December, and although a couple of days early, this certainly seems to be the case.
The high will likely dominate the weather for 10 days or so this month, bringing plenty of frost and fog.
We believe this will be pushed away to the south, bringing more unsettled weather for the Christmas period. It could be windy at times later in the month, with rain and showers sweeping eastwards.
Possibly turning colder during the final week as the winds become more north westerly.
However, the critical week in this forecast is the period from 20th to 26th December. We will be monitoring this closely, as if the high persists for longer than we anticipate, this may have a major impact on this forecast.
