Mixed through May
The immediate outlook is for cool and showery conditions to dominate, and the forecast pattern does see this general trend continuing possibly into the middle part of May.
Thereafter the trend should be toward more anticyclonic influences, and this may lead to a strong anticyclone building to the north of northwest of the British Isles.
Low pressure then slow moving to the south or southeast of the country for a time, but this too will move into the UK later in the period bringing another unsettled spell to many areas. Once again the end of May sees high pressure building to the north or northeast so we do expect a warmer end to the month.
