Updated Tuesday 5th April 2005. Valid Tuesday 5th April 2005 to Wednesday 4th May 2005.

Mixed conditions. Notable dry spells.

The short term forecast period is set to see low pressure taking centre stage, with conditions becoming unsettled and generally cooler than of late.

Much of the unsettled weather will probably be concentrated across western and northern areas of the country. However, a band of rain is going tobe moving through all areas. Winds will be strong at times over the north, with some windy spells, especially early in the period when cyclonic activity will be at its greatest.

Pressure may build back across southern Britain mid-month, bringing a drier spell. The north will still be rather mixed through, although a more general settled spell is expected around the third week. The end of April will once again see low pressure taking control, with shower or longer spells of rain and feeling cooler.

The beginning of may should see a general rise in pressure, with high pressure returning, bringing more settled conditions once again.
