May Outlook

Generally rather changeable, especially through southern areas during the short term. Drier and brighter across northern areas for a time. All areas of the British Isles rather changeable and cooler during mid-May, but a return of drier and warmer weather expected towards the end of May. Early June perhaps quite warm

Low pressure will remain a dominant and slow moving feature across the near Continent with an area of high pressure anticipated to be maintained to the north of the British Isles. Low pressure is expected to bring a spell of cooler and fresher weather spreading to all areas mid-month with temperatures returning closer to the seasonal average. As we approach the end of May high pressure should re-assert its influence through the country with fine, settled conditions likely across all areas. At this stage it is expected that these fine and dry conditions will extend into the opening days of June.
