Dry in many areas. Cool to cold.
Our forecast pattern has, for some considerable time, indicated that February would be dominated by anticyclonic influences; the month being mainly settled but cool to cold.
The confidence remains intact that this may be the case, and it is comforting to see that the global models so indicate that high pressure will dominate, even into the extended period where too, out pattern hints at a mainly high dominated month.
The difficulty is, and always seems to be predicting where this dominant high will position itself as this will be crucial to the weather details across the United Kingdom and Ireland. We expect most unsettled weather to be across the northwest quarter of the UK and Ireland.
If the pattern is correct then there is little to indicate any change in the pattern through to the beginning of March.
