The Month Ahead
October Outlook

Unsettled mid-October, but more settled end, and early November.

We are experiencing some difficulties with hurricanes this week. It would only take a major storm to cross the Atlantic, to have a major destablising effect on the atmosphere, which could disrupt our forecasts.

However, at the moment we do still expect the middle part of October to become more unsettled with some rainy periods, and perhaps gales in north west Scotland. Things should settled down again towards the end of the month, leading to a cold, frosty and possibly foggy start to November.
