The Month Ahead
30 Day Outlook August/September

Becoming more unsettled

Our forecast last week spoke of a cooler northwesterly airflow becoming established during the coming week. It appears at the moment that our thoughts of a return to more unsettled conditions were and are correct. The nature of the change was slightly adrift, although we are confident with the slippage to more unsettled weather.

However, the slip into more unsettled weather does seem likely, with a more westerly flow tending to become established during the remainder of August and the beginning of September. Ridges of high pressure will build from the south from time to time.

Throughout this forecast the difficulty is always going to be in predicting the timings of any changes in the weather. Hurricane season is now underway in the Atlantic and a major storm can have a large impact on forecasted conditions.
