December is looking set to be mainly cold until Christmas. Turning unsettled for the New Year.
A very large area of high pressure is firmly established over Scandinavia. This is bringing cold easterly winds to most of the British isles throughout the coming week
We do expect this high to be quite difficult to move out of the way, and so this could be influencing the weather through the weeks until Christmas. Temporary breakdowns in the pattern could occur on the far west from time to time.
By the New Year the pattern is expected to be far more unsettled with low pressure taking control and rain in all places.
