Mixed, but very low confidence.
The confidence in this forecast is very low at present. An unusual pressure patterns dominates through Europe, and our forecast pressure pattern is producing mixed signals.
At present we expect the week ahead to be unsettled, with periods of rain and strong winds. Temperatures will be around or perhaps +1C above normal. Rainfall will be close to 120% in western Scotland and Ireland, nearer 100% of normal elsewhere.
By next weekend the weather may settle for a day or two before the unsettled weather conditions return. Things may then become colder for a while, with more disturbed weather affecting the UK and Ireland again by the end of the month and beginning of September.
