Generally rather changeable, during the short term especially across the west and northwest, some drier and brighter spells across central and eastern areas All areas of the British Isles becoming rather changeable. A return of drier and warmer weather expected towards the end of May. These fine and settled conditions extending into the beginning of June.
Low pressure will remain the controlling influence close to the British Isles during the short term period, although temperatures are expected to be slightly above the seasonal average.
A spell of unsettled weather with temperatures returning to closer to the seasonal average taking hold, although by the end of May high pressure is anticipated to be building back through the British Isles. Fine, settled and warmer conditions likely across all areas.
At this stage it looks as if the fine, dry and potentially quite warm anticyclonic conditions may well extend through into the early to mid part of June.
