The Month Ahead
30 Day Outlook October

Chilly overall, although some milder spells

For a while our forecast pattern had indicated that high pressure would dominate the flow during the early part of November. The global models also now show this, so we have fair confidence in the short term that the forecast pattern is still on-line.

High pressure will continue to dominate the pattern to the west or north west of the UK and Ireland, this combining with low pressure expected to influence conditions to the east or northeast. Winds will be staying in a west to northwesterly direction, occasionally swinging into a northerly.

Conditions will alternate between mild Atlantic influences and colder Arctic interludes.

The middle of November may see a quieter, colder interlude, although milder and unsettled conditions are expected to dominate the latter stages of the month. The end of November should see more cold weather in all areas.

December may begin cool and unsettled, although soon into the new month, milder, unsettled weather will establish once more. These conditions will continue until mid-month when high pressure should begin to build back over the UK and Ireland.
