Our forecast pattern has for sometime indicated that the middle of August would probably be rather unsettled, or even quite disturbed. The forecast pattern continues to indicate that the coming few weeks will be rather mixed at best, and a continuing trend to cooler conditions looks likely.
The global forecast models are currently indicating something a little more settled at the end of August, although our forecast pattern still hints at a rather mixed pattern. Therefore there is a conflict of trends at the end of the tradition "summer" months.
The global models point to more anticyclonic weather over the UK at the end of the month. The pattern does indicate a build of pressure, but on our data this build may take place to the west of Ireland, which much of the more settled weather here.
Late August and early September will be mixed with northwest winds with a high pressure influence. Into the first week there are hints that pressure may then build over the south of the UK and Ireland with a more west to southwest flow towards mid-September with the northwest still mixed.
