Distinctly autumnal
Our forecast patterns are giving conflicting messages in detail and timing of events at the moment, although confidence in the overall flow pattern is reasonable.
The remainder of August should see southern areas of the British Isles and Ireland be influenced by high pressure. However, these will be interrupted by showery conditions, but overall it is going to be quite mild and warm. The north of the UK and Ireland should see more mixed weather.
The end of August may see the breakdown of summer into a more autumnal spell. The beginning of September should see a few settled days, although these interspersed with breezy, cooler and wetter conditions.
However, as we move into the middle section of September all areas should see a return of fine, settled conditions as high pressure builds into the UK and Ireland.
